Benefits of Indoor Cycling

Indoor cycling offers a ton of benefits for your overall health. Whether you want to just get in shape, or are training for a specific event, you’ll find that indoor cycling can help you achieve your goals.

  • Low impact - Cycling is very easy on your joints. Unlike running and many other forms of cardio, the ankle, knee, and hip aren’t subject to repeated impacts, and in fact get put through a healthy range of motion throughout the cycling action. This makes indoor cycling particularly good for people with joint problems, or who are recovering from an injury.
  • Lower body workout - All that pedalling is going to engage your calf muscles, quads, hamstrings, and glutes. You’ll build a powerful and lean lower body, which transfers well into other sports that require explosive speed and endurance.
  • Endurance and stamina boosting - An indoor cycling workout will keep your heart rate elevated for between 30 to 60 minutes. You’ll have intervals of extremely high intensity effort, with periods of less intense but constant work. This makes indoor cycling one of the best forms of exercise to increase your aerobic and anaerobic fitness.
  • All-weather workout - The main problem with normal cycling is that it’s hard to cycle fast in bad weather because the risk of an accident becomes so much higher. Plus, of course, when it turns cold and dreary it’s easy to just stay inside. Indoor cycling lets you get a workout in any time of day, no matter the weather.
  • Maximum results - Because you’re cycling in a controlled environment you can focus on putting your all into each interval of every workout. You don’t need to slow down for pedestrians, watch yourself at junctions, or keep an eye on that dog running loose in the park.
  • Stress reduction - Like any intense form of exercise, indoor cycling will release stress-reducing hormones, leaving your mood elevated long after the session is over.

Plan worked well for me. The weekly spreadsheet format allowed me to complete the sessions on my schedule and at my appropriate pacing. Loved the feedback from everyone. It provided the information I needed as a newbie. I didn't have any issues and have no recommendations. Great program!
